DrivePad Core Installation Guide
1. iPad setup and downloads
1. Turn on the iPad that will be used with DrivePad Core.
2.Set the iPad passcode to the passcode printed on your DrivePad Core box. This code is
assigned at the factory. Keep it in a safe place.
3. On the iPad, open Safari and visit:
https://www.auburnwireworks.com/drivepad-shortcuts
You can also scan the QR code on the DrivePad Core box.
4. Download all three Shortcuts and both prebuilt Automations:
o Headlight Dim On
o Headlight Dim Off
o DrivePad Cam shortcut
o Key On automation
o Key Off automation
5. Go to the App Store and download the DrivePad Cam app. You can also use the QR code
on the box to open it directly.
2. Tools required
• Multimeter or test light
• T taps
• 18 gauge automotive wire
• Crimping tool
• Zip ties
• Electrical tape
3. Connect to constant power1. 2. 3. 4. Open the vehicle hood and locate the fuse box or battery positive terminal.
Connect the red 12 volt positive wire from DrivePad Core to a constant power source.
Route the wire through the firewall using an existing grommet. If you make a new hole,
seal it so it remains watertight.
Connect the black wire to a solid chassis ground.
4. Reverse trigger connection
This wire tells DrivePad Core when the vehicle is in reverse.

Place wheel chocks behind two wheels and set the parking brake.
With the key turned to the ON position and the engine off, shift into Reverse.
Use a multimeter or test light to identify the wire that powers the reverse light. It should
only have power when the vehicle is in Reverse.
Tap into this wire using a T tap or by splicing in a piece of 18 gauge wire.
Run this wire to the DrivePad Core Reverse 12v input.
Route and secure the wire under interior trim or carpet. Use zip ties to prevent movement
and avoid sharp edges, heat sources, or moving parts.
5. Key on power trigger
1. 2. 3. Under the dashboard, locate a wire that has power only when the key is in the ACC or
RUN position.
Tap this wire in the same way as the reverse wire.
Connect it to the yellow wire going to the DrivePad Core Key On input.
6. Headlight dim trigger
1. 2. Locate the dimmer wire on the radio harness. It is often orange with a white stripe.
If this wire is not present, tap into the output wire from the headlight switch.
Tap into this wire and run it to the Headlight Dim 12v input on the DrivePad Core.
7. Bluetooth pairing
1. 2. 3. Turn on Bluetooth on the iPad.
DrivePad Core remains powered, so it should appear as a device named DrivePad Core.
Select it and follow the standard Bluetooth pairing steps.8. Assigning shortcuts to keyboard commands
1. On the iPad, open:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Keyboards > Full Keyboard Access
2. Turn on Full Keyboard Access.
3. Scroll down and select Commands.
4. Open the Shortcuts section.
5. Select the shortcut named Day Driving.
A pop up will ask for the keyboard shortcut.
Turn the headlights ON. This teaches the command to the iPad.
6. Select the shortcut named Night Driving.
When the pop up appears, turn the headlights OFF.
This teaches the night mode command to the iPad.
9. Mounting the DrivePad Core
Mount the module under the dash or behind a trim panel using double sided tape or Velcro.
Leave a slight amount of slack in the wires but keep the routing clean and secure.
10. Testing
1. Start the vehicle.
The iPad should wake and unlock automatically.
2. Turn headlights on.
The screen should dim to approximately 25 percent.
3. Turn headlights off.
The screen should return to full brightness.
4. Shift into reverse.
The DrivePad Cam app should open and display the camera feed.
Troubleshooting
• If the dimming feature does not work, verify that Full Keyboard Access is still enabled.
• If reverse trigger does not work, recheck the T tap connection at the reverse light wire.
Installation is complete.
